My Everlane Review

Everlane, jeans, straight leg jeans, vintage, mules

Sweater: vintage (Poshmark) | Jeans: Everlane | Shoes: Louise et Cie (Poshmark) (similar)

I have heard so many good things about Everlane, especially their jeans. So when they were having their Choose What You Pay sale, I placed an order on the last day of 2018 (the day before Nothing New January began LOL) After having worn some of the pieces I’ve ordered, I wanted to share my thoughts on the pieces and Everlane as a brand.

Since I’ve heard so much good things about their jeans, I just had to order a pair of their Cheeky Straight jeans.

Everlane, jeans, straight leg jeans, vintage, mules

These jeans are extremely comfortable. Some of the reviews I read indicated that they took a few wears to break them in, but I found them so comfortable the moment I put them on. A few hours in, they felt like sweatpants!

I found these jeans to be more comfortable right off the bat than my Levi’s wedgie fit straight jeans. I love my Levi’s, but they were stiff and took a bit of time and effort (read squats and lunges) to break them in.

Sizing-wise, I find that the jeans run a little big on me, so I wish that I had sized down. I’m not going to return them, but when I order Everlane jeans in the future, I will definitely order a size down. If you are curvier on the bottom, you may be able to get your regular size.

Everlane, thrifed, blazer, combat boots, franco sarto

Hoodie: Everlane| Pants: Halogen| Shoes: Franco Sarto Carlson | Blazer: Thrifted

This fleece hoodie is so thick and warm – I love it! It has slits on the side that give the hoodie a unique look. Some of the reviews on the site mention that it has a small neck opening, but I didn’t have any issue with it (and my head is big!) It has an over-sized fit, but it does not look sloppy at all. It may be due to the thick fabric, which allows it to hold its shape without drooping too much, and the side slits.

Thoughts on Everlane as a brand:

Everlane prides itself on its partnerships with “the best, ethical factories around the world.” According to its website, it sources “only the finest materials” and share “the true cost of every product [they] make.” They call it Radical Transparency. (Read here)

Everlane’s commitment to transparent pricing is commendable. However, as I was perusing their website and reading up on their practices, I realized that Everlane does not make a clear stance on the its overall sustainability practices. For example, we don’t know if Everlane uses sustainable and eco-friendly materials like organic cotton.

I have to emphasize the word “overall” because some of their products are manufactured with eco-friendly methods. For example, its denim products are manufactured in a factory that supports clean methods. The brand’s denim manufacturer – Saitex – recycles 98% of all water used. Apparently, when the water comes out the other side, its clean enough to drink! Saitex also has been able to reduce energy usage by 5.3 million kilowats of power and CO2 emissions by nearly 80%. (Read more about Saitex here)

I wish Everlane applied the same level of environmental transparency to all their products. Hopefully as the brand grows, it’ll make the same level of commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices that it made to ethical practices and transparent pricing.

Thank you for reading!
