Tips for Thrifting

Jacket: Thrifted from my local Salvation Army store | Belt: vintage Escada from Poshmark (current Monogram belt) | Jeans: Levi Wedgie Fit Jeans | Boots: vintage Etienne Aigner

In today’s post, I’m going to share what I look for while I’m thrifting and two tips for thrifting beginners.

Tip #1: Don’t put it down because it’s “not your size”!

Thrifting allows you to be creative. You may come across certain pieces that are over-sized, pushing you to come up with different ways to style them. The first jacket is huge on me now, so what’d I do? Belted it and styled it as a top!

Also, vintage sizing is different from the sizing standards used today. If you spot something you like, try it on.  The way it looks on a hanger is not how it’ll look on you.

The moment I picked it up, I knew it was huge, but I just could not leave such rich colors and soft velvet-y texture behind.

Tip #2: Forget trends!

If you thrift with whatever current trends in mind, you might miss out on treasures. Just let your instincts guide you. If certain colors and/or prints draw you in, grab it!

Jacket: Thrifted from Goodwill | T-shirt: Target | Skirt: Atlantic-Pacific x Halogen | Coat: LOFT (old) (similar) | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman (thrifted)

My mom actually found this pink and purple beauty, but we both fell in love with the beautiful colors and floral print, made complete with the trim you see in the last picture.
